It’s been busy for me these past couple months since I last posted, and I have a lot to say.
First off, I’m moving out of Thompson and going to Winnipeg at the end of this month. It was a decision that I’ve been entertaining for years, but never got around to doing because of my debt. The plan was to pay it off, save some money, and move down, but being stuck in Thompson after so long made it difficult for me to keep my spirits up, which resulted in my continued spending habits. In addition, I’ve always played it safe whenever I made a big decision, which involved making sure that all my bases were covered and calculating the risks. Unfortunately, it never worked for me in the end, so now I’m going to take a big jump into the unknown without all the careful planning I’m known for. I did do some preliminary budgeting and planning, but without real world figures, this is definitely a step I’ve never taken before.
The second update is regarding the ongoing issues that Colin and I have been experiencing at work. Since I don’t want to implicate people on my blog or go into specifics, let’s just say that somebody at work is treating us disrespectfully, and the matter escalated so far as to give me one of the reasons to leave town.
The biggest reason has to do with my career and plans. I’m not going anywhere, and I’m getting sick of stagnating, rotting in this lethargic infested town the delusional denizens are trying to disguise as a city. There is no future for the career path I’ve chosen as either a web designer or a server administrator, so why let my skills rot here? It’s time to make my own opportunities, and that’s what I hope to accomplish in Winnipeg. Who knows? Maybe it’s a stepping stone.
Last, but not least – this is the first, official entry that I’ve posted from my mobile. Pretty exciting, eh? I’m always on the go and Winnipeg will be worse (or better ^_^) for that, so the only times I’ll have available to blog will be while I’m out and about. Hopefully, updates will be less sporadic this way. I always have a lot on my plate, and I hope that this method will allow me to offload a bit. Facebook is too public, and I’m actually paying money to host this blog, so I should be using it. Makes sense, right? I’m not making any money off my blog, so I should at least get my value out of it. I remember the good old days when I hosted my website on Geocities, before they were bought over by Yahoo. Back then, I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said Fresh and it had dice in the mirror. If anything, I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought, ‘Nah, forget it.’ Yo, homes, to Bel Air! I stepped up to the house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabbie, “Yo, homes, smell you later!” Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there; to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel Air.
Yeah, I totally did a mobile copypasta. ^_~
EDIT: BlackBerry encodes long e-mail bodies into Base64, which became gibberish when it posted to my website. EPIC FAIL.
