Last night, I went over to Colin’s to get ready for the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 game we have scheduled with Ray on Saturday. However, that didn’t actually happen right away. We sat and played Street Fighter IV, which Colin picked up earlier that day, for a few minutes. Then we watched some Youtube videos (Street Fighter: The Later Years FTW). After that, I left Colin to solo SFIV while I started putting together my 1000 point Necron army for Saturday’s game with Ray. I was trying to balance what I had available to field and what kept me as close to the 1000 points as possible. Unfortunately, it meant that I couldn’t field my Monolith without sacrificing variety in my army, which I think would be more fun. Besides, my Monolith isn’t even completed yet, and it still requires painting. I want to take my time with that. Once I finished putting together my army, I set to work on assembling my units. Unfortunately, it was already almost 22:00 when I did that, so I was only able to construct my Flayed Ones.
Anyway, here’s the army I put together for Saturday. If it seems a bit n00bish, it’s because I AM a n00b at this.
HQ
Lord (140 pts) with Warscythe (10 pts), Lightning Field (25 pts), Phase Shifter (30 pts), and Resurrection Orb (40 pts) = 245 pts
Elites
1 squad of 4 Flayed Ones (18 pts x 4 = 72 pts) with Disruption Field (3 pts x 4 = 12 pts) = 84 pts
Troops
2 squads of 10 Warriors (18 pts x 20 = 360 pts) with Disruption Field (2 pts x 20 = 40 pts) = 400 pts
Heavy Support
1 Tomb Spyder = 55 pts
Fast Attack
1 squad of 3 Destroyers (50 pts x 3) = 150 pts
2 squads of 3 Scarab Swarms (12 pts x 6 = 72 pts) with Disruption Field (4 pts x 6 = 24 pts) = 96 pts
Total = 1030 pts
I could have sacrificed some Wargear from my Lord to add another Tomb Spyder, and I could have fielded my Wraiths, but I think this will be fine for now.
