Well, a lot of you reading this obviously had your computer(s) fixed by me at one point. It was a lot of fun helping people out, but unfortunately, this chapter of my life is coming to a close.
It was a difficult decision to make, but I had been considering freelancing in web design for a few months now, after several years of doing it as a side hobby to this, err… hobby. I am currently working at IT for Vale Inco since my contract at T-1 expired and was denied renewal by Toronto due to the cutbacks they have been enforcing lately, however, it is for the interim until I can get my feet back on the ground and create a freelancing strategy that best suits me. This may eventually lead me out of Thompson.
I did attempt to juggle it all with my full-time job, but in the end, I realized that fixing computers resulted in the stagnation of my web design progress, especially since I have actual training to do in order to meet web development standards. As a result, I had to give it up early so that I could focus on web design.
Thanks to all my clients for their continued support up until this point. I only hope that most of you will understand and support my decision. I will not leave all of you in the cold, however – I personally know a number of other capable people who perform after hours computer repair – just send me a message and I will gladly refer you to them!
This is certainly not a good-bye, but definitely a “see you later”!
