I’ve actually been quite diligent in keeping up with my favorite TV shows as well as gaming (including Shadowrun on Saturdays to avoid being anti-social). Chuck has been hitting all the high plot points this (final) season, and it’s probably my favorite show on TV so far. However, with all the comedy gold of some surprising new sitcoms this season, my next favorite show right now would have to be Young Justice; that’s right, an animated DC series on Cartoon Network. I was recently made aware that it started back up again a while ago, so I marathoned them all this week in time to catch the latest episode this past Friday. For what’s supposed to be another kids show, there are some rather dark and mature themes going on here to rival some cop dramas: a supervillain who does something horrifying to become “pure” of heart, and moral dilemmas about the right decisions; just to name a few. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, so I won’t go into detail, but I will say that it’s good storytelling. Justice League good.
I’ve been hearing good things about Burn Notice, Grimm, and The Walking Dead. I’ll have to add those to my list after the networks do their ritualistic trimming.
