I saw a commercial while watching TV yesterday (how lethargic I’ve become in my unemployment, watching actual TV) for Taco Bell. They introduced their Volcano menu for a limited time. The Volcano menu items are supposed to be spicy, but I have yet to try any, even though I was there Saturday night (they didn’t have the menu at the time). Now I have to go there and try the Volcano beef burrito sometime.
Speaking of burritos, I went to a place on Sunday called Burrito Del Rio, a Mexican taqueria restaurant (located on River Avenue where I’m staying). I ordered their beef burrito, and they used a lot of fresh ingredients, including shredded beef as opposed to ground beef from a grocer. It was also massive; the large burrito was the size of two Whoppers from Burger King. It was insanely tasty without being too high in sodium content, although it wasn’t as spicy as it claimed to be. Next time, I’ll ask for the very hot sauce. There’s also another authentic Mexican restaurant downtown called Casa Burrito. Reviewers touted it as better tasting than Burrito Del Rio. I can’t even imagine it!
The recent hot weather has made cooking almost non-existent. I need to buckle down, break a sweat, and make some pasta salad. I found a new balsamic pasta salad recipe online that I’ve been wanting to try out; hopefully, if I have time today, I’ll do that as my culinary pet project. The salad does need to cool off for several hours, so it’ll be best if I start as soon as possible, but I guess it depends on how quickly I can eat lunch and finish up some web design stuff for a client.
Finally, I’ve been having this craving for Hooters wings recently. Or maybe the craving is for the buxom beauties that wait the tables? Maybe a bit of both, maybe a bit of both. Hehe.
